A divorce begins when one party files a complaint with the Court; in this complaint they explain what it is they want from the case. Then the other party then has up to 20 days to respond, with their own list of requests. When both parties have formally responded, the Court will hold a Case Management Conference to set important dates and deadlines. From this point, depending on each case, discovery will take place, child custody evaluations will be ordered, and temporary arrangements (including things such as your living situation) will be set.
